Stovetop Saffron Rice

Ingredients:

  • ¾ teaspoon chopped saffron threads
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 whole cardamom seeds
  • 2 cups uncooked long-grain rice
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 tablespoon butter
  • 1 red onion crushed
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 3 cups boiling vegetable broth

Instructions:

Step 1

Fill the bowl with rice water; set it aside for 30 minutes to soak. Saffron threads should be soaked in 2 tablespoons boiling water.

Step 2

In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter; add the cardamom, cloves, and cinnamon and cook, occasionally stirring, for 2 minutes. Stir in onion and cook, occasionally stirring, until golden brown.

Step 3

Stir in the rice; reduce to low heat, and cook, constantly stirring, for 5 minutes. Stir in the boiling broth, salt, and saffron. Cover cooks for nearly 40 minutes, or until rice is tender and all liquid has been absorbed.

Last Step

Serve immediately and enjoy.
